Finished in red plastic. Holds 3 lbs. Login to Write A Review. My finches LOVE this feeder. It is very cheap plastic, but that worked well for me because I don’t feed the small thistle and holes are small for that.

I feed sunflower chips and was able to enlarge the holes by putting a screw driver into them and turning slightly. This tore away small bits of the plastic and made the hole large enough for sunflower chips. Would love to see this feeder in another version with larger holes.

A little hard to clean, you’ll need a long bottle washer brush. It is cheap plastic, but withstood our NE winter last year and will be fine for use again this this year. Very pleased with this feeder. Rarely purchase from Duncraft as they are too expensive these days. I have used other finch feeders and usually have 2 finches who eat daily.

I put this feeder up and within an hour had 6 finches, within three days had 11 finches. They absolutely love it and spend a lot of time there even when they are taking a break from eating. The only con is that the perchs are not fixed to the tubes. Therefore they can easily slide out of the tubes or as was my case, be pushed out by a curious squirrel.

This is less of a problem if you keep it fully filled. And thankfully, the squirrels were only curious about it the first day and have left it alone now. This is the first finch feeder ive had that the seed did not get wet at the bottom after a rain storm. I did use feeder fresh at the bottom though as well. Lastly, get ready to buy a lot of finch thisle because you will be refilling this feeder a few times a week because it is so popular.

Buy this feeder, its all plastic but the finchs love everything about it. You’ll be amazed! I was skeptical that it would attract so many finches, even though others said it did. It is flimsy and appears cheaply made, but it works better than I thought! It is fall where I live. I put the feeder out just 3 days ago. Today I looked out and counted 13 finches just hanging out!

I was amazed! They really do like it. I have a 3 foot feeder as well, but they preferred to socialize on this one instead. I love it! Holes way to large to much nyjer seed lo. I don’t know what it is about this feeder, but the finches prefer it to all others. I often have have every port filled with other finches waiting just like the picture shows. DO use Feeder Fresh Highly recommend!

I’m not sure if it’s the fact I have a different seed in other feeders but they definitely don’t favor this one. It’s nice but the rods are barely long enough to allow space between each tube and the ends for the birds. For how much this thing costs I think the should have made the rods longer with more space for taller birds as well.

Gold finches are quite small and barely fit. If you already have a pretty good goldfinch population this may work well for you but since mine have a variety of feed to choose from they don’t seem to use this much. Birds love it.

I love this birdfeeder but my porch is covered in birdseed. The seeds that get on the porch attract doves. By NoMansLand on July 29, The most finches I’ve had at my normal feeders has been 2.

I got this in hopes of luring more of them to my backyard. Day 1. Some chickadees and titmouses check to see what kind of seeds it has. Day 2. More chickadees, at least 1 goldfinch. Day 3. I was skeptical that this would actually lure them in mass like the pictures show and to my amazement, every single perch but 2 were completely full in the morning on day 3. There’s anywhere from around 4 – 20 on mine all the time since then.

For the price I’m pretty amazed at how well this works. So, it’s large and it’s plastic, meaning squirrels can eat through it if they can access it, and if it isn’t protected from rain, it’s going to get wet. None of these are the fault of the feeder. Mine also has rubber grommets on all the perches to prevent them from sliding anywhere. The only fault I can find is one of the bottom retainers in the tube wasn’t pushed down far enough.

Otherwise, nothing I can think of to improve this. Probably not going to attract anything but finches with this, but it sure works for what it was intended. By Jamie E on January 18, The holes on the tubes are not in the right places and so the tubes do not stand straight like in the picture.

Instead, each tube leans in one direction or another. It looks bad. I put it in the yard where the birds can get to it but I don’t have to look at it. So pleased to pull the feeder out of the box completely ready to fill and hang Although the finches in my area are slow to start enjoying a new feeder, I have no doubt they’ll flock to and enjoy this improved, red feeder soon!

We’ve seen over a dozen finches at the same time on the old dingy multitube feeder I recently tossed It’s a joy to hear the finches sing and watch them feed! The holes for the rods won the middle tube were not lined up so there was no way to get the tubes straight. See photo. There are 36 holes where the rods come through. This leads me to the last problem: The thistle seed holes where the birds eat are small enough that they don’t leak but each rod has 6 holes that are larger than the rod that passes through, and since most of those holes do not have rubber gaskets every time it rains they leak.

Moisture drips down through the thistle seed and 2 days later you have a lump of moldy seed. Of course, to get that cleaned out means all the seed has to be trashed. Yes, that is mold in the photo and that seed was 6 days old, and thrown out.

I ended up taking out the middle tube and using 2 of the scarce gaskets to hold it in the center of my shepherd’s hook feeder stand. I’m in the Pacific Northwest so as soon as it rains again feeder will have to be taken down.

One person found this helpful. I have owned several 3 tube finch feeders in the past and this one is way superior to any of them.

The tubes are of much heaver material and the caps and perches are made of metal not plastic as others are. This feeder should hold up very well. I highly recommend anyone to put this feeder on top of your list. Update: Many of the reviews of this product should be removed.

They are too old and certainly do not reflect the great product that I recently received. This feeder has thick plastic tubes and all of rest is assembled with red steel caps and steel perches. Disregard the complaints about the cheaply made plastic for at least the one I received is excellent in quality. The description of this product needs to be changed because the feeder has changed. The old reviews sheds a dim light on the manufacturer Songbird Essentials.

However the manufacturers web site is describing the cheaper all plastic model, so I don’t know what gives. Just buy it. Birds love this. Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations.
