I ran the Payroll Liability Balances report and, as expected, the May amount is listed which has not yet been paid , but the June value is “0. Typically it gets created with the first payroll of the month and each successive payroll in that month increases that liability amount.

When I said I processed a tax payment for June, that was the Federal withholding payment and yes, making such a payment will zero out the liability. The tax liability payment that is not getting created is the State Payroll Tax liability.

Upon running those June payrolls, there should have been a liability amount created for June and there was not. That is the issue for me right now and I don’t understand why that is not the case nor do I know how to address it.

When doing this, QuickBooks will create a liability tax for those Federal and State withholding amounts and oddly enough, it does not include the SS and Medicare taxes that were the only liabilities created – and paid – when the first checks were run in May.

So now my resulting question is can I use QuickBooks since it is June to submit those Federal withholdings created when I edited the paycheck detail and reran the check I can handle the State withholdings?
